We are pleased to announce the selection of Brian Smith, CK Class of 2001, as our 2022 CK School Distinguished Graduate!
Brian is a 2001 graduate of Christ the King School and continues to be active today in the church community as well as the larger Oklahoma City Catholic community. After Brian graduated from CK he attended Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and then became a University of Kansas Jayhawk. He graduated from KU in 2010. Thankfully Brian made his way back to Oklahoma City and became very involved in the Catholic community. Brian currently works as the Parish Engagement Director for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. He works with all churches throughout the diocese to support their social ministries to help the poor and vulnerable in their communities.
Brian is a very involved parishioner of Christ the King Church. As a member of our Confirmation team, he helps prepare CK youth for this important sacrament by teaching classes, leading small groups and attending their retreats. Brian is also active with the ACTS small groups and retreat teams. He impacts our school community as well by providing faith formation opportunities for the school faculty and sharing the works of Catholic Charities. He is always willing to come and talk with our students about the needs of our community and how students can help. Brian is a role model to so many through his experiences.
Brian’s work at Catholic Charities and his time volunteering at Christ the King Parish and School keep him busy. Somehow, he still finds time to be an active board member at The Dale Rogers Training Center, and he volunteers his time on the Catholic Charities USA National Parish Social Ministry Team. It is evident that Brian ministers to others through his job as well as through his volunteer efforts. His ministry is a gift to so many and he continues to make a difference in communities near and far.
Please help us congratulate Brian Smith as the 2022 Christ the King School Distinguished Graduate Award recipient. Brian was honored at 10:00 Mass on Sunday, January 30th. This special Mass began our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week, an annual national celebration of Catholic education in the United States.
