Its hard to believe that KIDS CLUB is in its fourteenth year. We just keep growing and growing. We have 88 children enrolled and on any given day around 60 children come to KIDS CLUB. The children really get along well and you will often see a group of eighth graders playing with kindergartner's.
The children are still able to go to the Library for silent study hall. Many of the teachers are also available to give the children individual help.
A new program is being offered to ALL school children through the PE program. The children are able to go to the gym each afternoon until 4:30 to workout. This is supervised by Mrs. Ward. Many KIDS CLUBBERS take advantage of the workout.
We have started two new programs also. The first is called JUMP AND SHOUT. Mrs. Mulcahy is a Tae Kwon Do instructor so we developed a thirty minute workout including stretching, jumping, lunges, and simple self defense moves. JUMP AND SHOUT is offered two days a week for thirty minutes. It is free of charge.
The other program that we started the second semester is COME READ WITH ME. This is brought to us by the Metropolitan Library System. Two days a week, a gentleman comes to us from the Downtown Library. He brings many books. We are starting three levels of book clubs. He is also teaching the children about journaling. The children really enjoy this relaxed reading time.
Robynne Mulcahy is back again this year to help. The high schoolers that are employed are Elizabeth Berend, Annie Mudd, Kelsey VanDyke and Brogan Ward. The girls really enjoy being here to help with the children. We have a GREAT group this year and are happy that the changes are going well.
